Food Trip: OVN Bread Co.

I mentioned in my previous blog about one Family Sunday at SM Aura that my dad bought us breads from OVN Bread Co. for takeout.

The OVN Bread Co. is a little bakery that can catch your attention because of its very inviting facade and nice displays of their products. They sell pies, breads, pastries, etc.

The box is very nice right? The design is simple but elegant. =)

Here are the breads that my dad bought for us...

I don't know what they are called because my dad was the one who got them for us. I'll just describe each bread on my own term from left to right. The first one is like ensaymada. The second one is like cookies and cream bread and the last one is like blueberry cheescake bread.

What can I say about OVN's breads? They are all delicious!!! They are like donuts in disguise. The breads are so soft that they literally melts in your mouth. Aside from that, the breads are not too sweet.

I want more of these breads! If I go back to SM Aura, I'll try other varieties. =)


To OVN Bread Co., please have a branch here in the south... Pretty please... You might consider having it at Alabang Town Center. =)

Food Discovery: Eng Bee Tin Hopia Mongo Supreme

Last Chinese New Year, a client of my dad gave him assorted Eng Bee Tin products - different varieties of hopia and different flavors of tikoy. Since I'm a fan of hopia mongo, I got a pack and did not notice that the pack that I got is extra special. It has a salted duck egg yolk in it!!! Jackpot!!! I was really surprised because it was the first time I ate hopia with a salted duck egg yolk since normally it can only be found in moon cakes or egg yolks.

I got curious so I checked the packaging immediately. I read it carefully and found out that it is Hopia Mongo Supreme. That's the only time that I knew that there is such a thing as Hopia Mongo Supreme. Hehehe. I told my mom immediately and asked her to buy if she gets a chance to go to an Eng Bee Tin store. =)

Food Trip: Mother's Crepe & Cafe

This blog entry is part of my blog series about one Family Sunday at SM Aura.

After we finished eating our lunch at Coca Restaurant, my dad asked us if we want to eat dessert. I told him that I saw a store at the 4th level that serves crepes and I suggested my parents to try it out.

So there we went down the 4th level after we finished checking out the Sky Garden.

They make the crepes on the spot that's why you won't get bored. The Kulilits enjoyed watching how to make crepes which made them more excited to eat one!

I really loved their crepes because it's not that sweet. My favorite is the Caramel Strawberry (Mango) Cheesecake Soft. It's very very very delicious. I love the cheesecake and ice cream in it! Mangoes, cheesecake, soft ice cream and crepe - PERFECT COMBINATION!!! Even the Kulilits enjoyed and loved eating it. I would love to eat more!

I would definitely go back to their store and try the other kind of crepes! I hope that they'll open up a store somewhere here in the south...

Food Trip: Coca Restaurant

Like what I said in my previous blog post about one Family Sunday at SM Aura, we ate lunch at Coca Restaurant. I absolutely don't know why my mom chose to eat there. Maybe because it's a new restaurant and, like us, she wanted to try something new. =)

Anyway, let me share you our dining experience at Coca Restaurant.

You can see that the restaurant is very simple but classy from its facade to its interior. Though you can't classify it as a fine dining restaurant, the ambiance is still quiet. It's good for meetings and dates. =)

Coca Restaurant serves Thai-Chinese dishes. For you to have an idea of what they serve, here is a snapshot of their menu...

What can I say about the food? Well, everything that we ordered is great! The food were all very flavorful and delicious. Our favorite is the Pacific Sunset. You know, the sauce alone is enough to partner the rice. In Tagalog, sarsa pa lang, ulam na. Aside from that, they serve the food hot which is a must for my mom.

The Price? Hmmm... It's quite expensive but its okay because of the quality of the food they serve. 

The Service? Their waiters are friendly and prompt. That's also a plus point for the restaurant. =)

Overall, we had a superb dining experience at Coca Restaurant. I highly recommend it to you guys!

Family Sunday at SM Aura

My dad once had a meeting at SM Aura and he found the mall very nice. Actually, he shopped after his meeting which was very unlikely of him. Hahaha! He told us about his experience and asked us if we would like to go there as a family on a Sunday. Of course, we agreed! Who on earth would refuse a free trip with free food? Absolutely, not us! Haha!

So there...

One Sunday morning, we went to SM Aura in full force. =) We strolled a bit and we found a Christmas display and had an obligatory family picture there. Yes, I know, it's already Valentines and I'm still talking about Christmas here. That's because I haven't blogged that much nowadays because of my busyness with my kids.

We actually went to SM Aura to stroll around and window shop. Knowing our family, the malling turned into food trip!

Since we arrived there in time for lunch, we went to the upper most floor (5th Level) to look for a restaurant to eat and my mom chose Coca Restaurant.

Take note: The color of Je Ann's uniform matches the uniform of the waiters there. That's why one of the waiters jokingly told her not to roam around the restaurant because the diners might think that she is one of the crew there. So if I were you, if you decide to dine in there, don't wear something with that shade. Hehe.

We strolled again in the mall for about an hour then we decided to go home already. But... but... but... before we headed back home, my dad bought some delicious breads at OVN Bread Co. for our take out.

Mama G even commented "Wow, may libreng pasyal na may pabaon pa!" (Wow, a free trip with a matching free takout!) Well, Papa G was in the mood to splurge that day. Hehe! =)

That's our malling turned into food trip at SM Aura! =)

Johnson's Baby Play Factory Launch

It was the Kulilits' birthday last February 1. Prior to their birthday, I was thinking of where to bring them on their special day. At first, I'm planning to bring them at Fun Ranch - Westgate Alabang because I'm pretty sure that they'll enjoy it there. Then few days before their birthday, I received an email from Nuffnang Philippines inviting me to a Johnson's Baby event. It's about the launch of the Johnson's Baby Play Factory which will be held at Active Fun BGC on February 1 also. I really got excited because (1) it was the first time I'm invited by Nuffnang for an event and (2) it was right timing for my twins' birthday because Active Fun has same concept with Fun Ranch. So going their is like hitting two birds with one stone that's why I immediately confirmed to attend the event. =)

Saturday came, we arrived at Active Fun at exactly 1:30pm.

The twins were so excited when they saw the play area. They kept on bugging me if they could play already. I told them that there's a program and we need to attend it first.

The program was just quick wherein the Johnson's Baby Play Factory was introduced and new Johnson's Baby Powder TV commercials were shown. After the program, we were already told to go down and enjoy the play area for an hour.

What did I learn in attending the Johnson's Baby Play Factory event?

Like what it says in its tagline "Gawing playtime ang powder time", powder time can surely be a playtime. There are a lot of fun ideas that can be done during powder time such as drawing patterns on your skin, turning powder into fairy dust, metamorphosis of bottles into something else, using it in dance steps, etc.

At the end of the event, Johnson's Baby gave us something to enjoy at home.
