Food Trip: Som's Noodle House

Since hubby and I were "almost" on our just the two of us moment today ("Almost" because hindi pwedeng mawalay sa akin ang aking loyal bodyguard na si Christoff. Hehe.), nilubos lubos na namin. We had an impromptu dinner date. Saan kamo? We ate at Som's Noodle House near Rockwell. We chose Som's because (1) minsan lang kami magawi somewhere in that area na kami lang dalawa and (2) namiss namin ang Som's specially their Pad Thai noodles and Thai Milk Tea.

At first, we went to their branch somewhere in Mandaluyong City Hall. Haha! Ang tagal na kasi since the last time we ate there eh.

At dahil gusto talaga namin kumain ng Thai food sa Som's, we just went to their original branch in Makati. When we arrived there, nagulat kami sa major changes. Haha!

Still, meron pa rin silang al fresco area near the banketa like before pero better version naman...

On their wall, may picture ng mga food nila in case you are not familiar with Thai food...

They also improved on their menu card...

We ordered the following:

Their famous Thai Milk Tea...

P50.00

Ang sarap talaga nito promise! I love the woody taste of the tea which blended well with the milk.

P250.00

We ordered the Seafood Pad Thai Noodles. Higher yung price niya compared sa regular Pad Thai Noodles (Obvious ba? Haha!). At first, I asked the waitress why is it maputla this time pero wala naman palang effect ito sa taste. It still tastes good like before plus ang dami daming sahog. This is actually good for 3-4 persons.

Shrimp Cake...

P220.00

We were supposed to order Thai Spring Rolls kaso lang pork lang ang meron sila kaya iba na lang inorder namin. Then next choice namin is Fish Cake kaso unavailable din. Kaya ayan, we ended up with the Shrimp Cake.

Haha. Maybe you are wondering bakit meron ganyan sa Thai restaurant. Well, meron kasi silang ihaw ihaw sa labas. In fairness ha, masarap ito. Very tasty siya and hindi dry.

Each item in their menu is actually good for 3 to 4 persons. Since heavygatin kaming mag-asawa, medyo sakto lang sa amin yang inorder namin. For me, I'm super busog while si hubby tamang busog (Yup, may ganun kaming mga terms. Haha!). Kaya when it comes to the bill, medyo naging expensive ang dinner namin. P715.00 (with 10% service charge) kasi ang nakain namin. For that kind of restaurant, yung tipong hindi naman classy ang dating, medyo parang expensive siya. But still, ok lang naman sa amin because nasatisfy naman kami in terms of taste and quantity. =)

Food Trip: Mang Raul's Ihaw Ihaw

Yesterday, I craved for some ihaw-ihaw and I don't know why. I just suddenly thought of isaw manok (chicken intestines) and adidas (chicken feet) that's why I told the maids, on our way home from Festival Mall, that we'll go food tripping in the afternoon after the Kulilits' nap.

So at around 6:00pm, we headed to Mang Raul's at BF Almanza for some ihaw-ihaw. It's a known ihaw-ihaw food stall here down south serving BBQ, isaw manok (chicken intestines), isaw baboy (pork intestines), adidas (chicken feet), balat (pork skin), tenga (pork ears) and jumbo hotdogs.

When we arrived there, lines were starting to build up already. We were 12th in the line.

The food on sticks were stored in plastic box containers...

Normally, those who eat there order in bulk that's why they have a huge griller there...

Our order came after around 30 minutes. I was really hungry that time that I forgot to take pictures of what we ordered. Hehe. Anyway, I had isaw manok and adidas, the Kulilits had hotdogs and the maids had isaw manok, adidas, tenga and balat.

This were our plates after we ate...

And of course, hubby requested isaw manok and isaw baboy for takeout since he wasn't able to come with us...

Cravings satisfied! Yahoo! Even the maids enjoyed our food tripping last night. It was a new experience for them. We loved the sauces - special sweet sauce and spicy vinegar. The total damage for our food is only P309.00. =)

Anyway, below is the price list of their products in case you want to know:

BBQ - 17.00
Jumbo Hotdog - 18.00
Isaw Manok - 6.00
Isaw Baboy - 9.00
Adidas - 6.00
Tenga - 9.00
Balat - 6.00
Rice - 15.00

So that's it! Till our next food trip...

Adventures in Puerto Princesa: Food Trip

Our trip in Puero Princesa will not be complete without the food trip. =)

Food Trip No. 1 : Baywalk

The baywalk area has a long strech of street food.

We checked the stalls one by one and we discovered the cheesy dynamite (green pepper with cheese rolled in lumpia wrapper). It is so delish! Only P5.00 per stick.

Here are some other tusok tusok food... kwek kwek, hotdogs, fishballs, etc.

Ihaw-ihaw... barbecue, isaw, etc.

Not an ordinary fishball. They made it from scratch. It's yummy also.

Fried isaw which my hubby tried.

For the finale, we ate our dinner here.

Our dinner...

Barbeque and Inihaw na Liempo

Inihaw na Pusit

Inihaw na Isda

Take note, our dinner is only P980.00. Ang mura right?

Food Trip No. 2: Ka Lui

Before leaving Puerto Princesa, we ate our dinner at Ka Lui.

Too bad I forgot to take pictures of our food (gutom na kasi...hehehehe). But I managed to take photos of the menu.

We ordered the following: Fish Cordon Bleu, Kalui Special of the Day Set, Palawan Seafood Sisig, All-Veggies Tempura and Sea Catch Tempura.

Lahat ng inorder namin masarap specially the Fish Cordon Bleu, kaya parang binagyo yung table namin. Hehehe. Aside from that, super mura pa ng food. Our bill is less than 2k lang.

Ka Lui is a very  nice restaurant. Ang ganda ng interior niya. Nakaka-inlove. Here are some of the photos that I took.

Our table...

A mini-stage I think...

A specialty store...

The kitchen...

Other side of the restaurant...

Waiting area outside the restroom. Again, I forgot to take a picture of the restroom. Sayang, ang ganda ganda pa naman and very extraordinary.

By the way, you are not allowed to wear shoes inside the restaurant. It means na either nakapaa lang or nakasocks sa loob. Bongga di ba?

Hopefully next time, we could try the other restaurant at Puerto Princesa. Eto lang natry namin since almost all the meals are already included in the package.

Adventures in Kota Kinabalu: Food Trip

Our KK food trip is the highlight of our KK travel - that is according to my hubby. Hehehe... Sabi nga nila, you haven't gone to the place if you haven't tasted their local food. Kaya every time we travel, food trip galore kami lagi ni hubby. Try this and try that ang mantra namin. Explore kung explore!

We went to their open air food stalls a.k.a. street food. They are only open from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

When we arrived here, you can see the glow in my hubby's face. Parang nakarating sa heaven ang lolo niyo. Parang halos lahat ata ng food gusto niya itry.

You can see here in the picture that there are a lot of people in the food street. According to our tour guide, people in KK eat in the afternoon to break their fast.

There are a lot of food to choose from.

Their BBQ stalls. The chicken wings that you can see here, PANALO ito promise! They are selling it at MR1.50 each.

Their drinks. Hindi mawawala ang sugarcane juice. Very refreshing ito. It is a must try. I also tried their ABC. It is their local version of our Halo Halo. It tastes good and very malinamnam. Maybe because they use gata (coconut milk) instead of cow's milk.

We ate the food that we bought in our hotel room.  We bought chicken wings, assorted satay, roti sardin and roti ayam. Hehehe.

Aside from those, a must try din ang kanilang nasi goreng and mi goreng. Para ngang we want to go back to KK to try more of their food. =)

Food Trip: Town Dog's

Our cousins (Jaime and Kuya Jobet) brought us to Sta. Monica Pier during our trip to L.A. While walking around, we saw Town Dog's. Jaime recommended it to hubby and told us that it was featured in the food channel.

Jaime ordered this for hubby:

This is hotdog sandwich is really good! Sulit ang money. Ok rin kasi there is a twist in the sandwich. As you can see, there are some chips on it.

Below is the hotdog stand. Talagang nagpaphoto op ang hubby here. Hehehehe...

You can see, happy na happy si hubby. Pangarap kasi niya to eat at a hotdog stand sa US eh. Actually, ang gusto niya Sabrett sa New York kaso nga lang wala sa itinerary namin ang New York. Next time na lang siguro pag bumalik kami sa US. Ang tanong: kailan kaya yun? Hehehe...

Fishballs sa Kanto

During my childhood days, I can only eat fishballs when we visit Nanay Anding (my maternal grandmother) at her house (Blumentritt, Sta. Cruz, Manila).

Fishballs 3 for Php 2.00
Oh di ba, very tempting ang kawali ni Manong? Kaya tara na sa kanto... ika nga ng mga taga _______ "Let's go na to the kanto. Let's make tusok tusok some fishballs and make sawsaw sawsaw to the sauce!"
