I'm Scared to Death Last Friday

Last Friday, I was really scared to death.

Ganito kasi yan... Last Wednesday morning, nag-start na magfever si Christoff. We were closely monitoring him and nacocontrol naman namin ang fever niya through paracetamol and wet towel. Then last Friday morning, may swimming lesson ang kambal and mukhang uulan, so I decided to leave him at home na lang tutal naman our plantsadora (Sally) was there to watch over him and he didn't have a fever na naman that time.

For about 1 1/2 hours we were out of the house then when we came back kinamusta ko kaagad si Christoff. Sally told me na inaantok na raw si Christoff and patulog na (Sally was just infront of Christoff sewing something).

So I found it weird na hindi man lang ako sinalubong. I immediately went close to him and called his name. Hindi man lang nagrerespond sa tawag ko ang anak ko and hindi gumagalaw (He was in a curled up position). Nung nakita ko yung legs and arms niya, sobra namang lamig and nangingitim na and nanginginig siya. Kaya dali dali ko siyang inakap para mabigyan ko ng human heat then I tried to keep him conscious. Sobrang natakot pa ako dahil yung eyes niya parang gusto niyang ipikit. Then I got a wet towel at pinunasan ko siya.

At eto pa, I tried to keep my calm as much as possible para di ako magpanic. Umiiyak na talaga ako that time.

After ko mapunasan si Christoff, I tried to breastfeed him. Buti naman at nagsuck siya. Medyo nakampante ako dahil nagrespond siya. Then I called na my mom and husband to tell them what was happening that time and to tell them that I'll bring na Christoff to the hospital.

I brought Christoff to Perpetual Help Hospital since yun na ang pinakamatinong hospital na malapit sa house namin. When we were there, when the nurses tried to check his vital signs, umiyak na siya and nanlaban. Kasi all the time tahimik lang siya eh and walang kibo.

Anyway, they got some blood and urine samples from him para makita yung cause ng fever niya. Awang awa ako that time kay Christoff.

Moving forward... The doctor was considering if it was just a chill or a seizure (kombulsyon).

Dapat icoconfine siya but hubby decided that we'll just closely monitor him at home. Kaya ayun, that late afternoon, we went out na rin sa hospital.

Guess where we went after? We went to our manghihilot to check if Christoff has a pilay or bati (usog). It turned out na may bati si Christoff. Ang lakas daw ng nakausog sa kanya. Matandang babae daw. I remembered that we were at the football training of the twins the night before and bigla na lang siya nilagnat kinabukasan ng madaling araw. Kayo ba, do you believe in such things?

Anyway, yun yung happenings last Friday na sobrang nakapagtaranta sa akin. Imagine, for just 1 1/2 hours lang ako nawala, ganun na nangyari kay Christoff. All the while, akala lang ni Sally natutulog si Christoff, yun pala naninigas na. What if nahuli ang dating ko? Para bang binulungan ako that time.

Moral of the story: Never ever leave any of my sons if they are sick. Dapat closely monitored talaga! Iba pa rin ang pagbabantay ng ina.

So that's it! Everything is ok now. We had Christoff checked by his pedia and it turned out that he had Roseola. He is back to his normal state now - malikot and matakaw! We really thank God for always being there with us.

Goodnight everyone! =)

The Birth of Roy Christoff

Finally, I have time to blog now. =) All of the boys are having their afternoon nap and that's unusual nowadays. Normally, one of them doesn't want to sleep that's why sometimes I feel very frustrated because my schedule for the day is ruined.

Well, I have three boys... 2 toddlers and an infant... I only have one househelp who only cleans the house and washes the clothes of Christoff... I do the cooking, grocery shopping, buying of fresh produce at the wet market, taking care and homeschooling the kids, etcetera, etcetera... Just imagine that...

Anyway, it's been almost a month when I gave birth to Roy Christoff and I still haven't blogged about his birth. Hehe. I told you in my previous blog entry (you can read it here), that my CS operation has been moved several times. So from the initial schedule of December 15, it was finally settled at December 16.

Since it was moved on a later date, I've got an extra day to prepare. Hehe. That extra day (December 15) was really maximized. We went around ATC before lunch. Then we celebrated my dad's birthday at Ramen Tei. After my dad's birthday lunch, my mom and I went to the parlor for some pampering. I believe that I need to be pampered in preparation to no-sleep days. Hehe.

I had foot spa with pedicure...

and a haircut...

After that, we already went to Makati because I need to be admitted to Makati Medical Center for some preparations the day before my CS schedule. But before going to the hospital, we ate first a super late dinner since I need to be NPO by 12:00 midnight.

Moving forward...

On December 16, 2013, at around 9:00am, I gave birth to Roy Christoff Garcia Padua...

Christoff is such a healthy baby boy. His birth weight is 6.11 lbs (He's not that heavy because my OBG is strictly monitoring my weight during my pregnancy) and his Apgar score is 9.

Here is our first picture together...

Here is Christoff's picture at the nursery...

I'm very happy because the CS procedure went well and my baby boy is very healthy. What I didn't like is the number of days I stayed in the hospital and the huge hospital bill. Hehe. I stayed there for 5 days - 1 day for preparation, 1 day for the actual CS procedure and 3 days recovery period. I got bored at the hospital plus I missed the Kulilits. I actually tried to lessen the number of days of my stay at the hospital by making sure to poop and walk the following day. Unfortunately, my OBG didn't allow me to go home because she wants to make sure that I won't have any complications post surgery. =(

Kulilits' First Time to be Hospitalized

It has been a week since the Kulilits was discharged from the hospital. They were confined in the hospital for 5 days and their weight deteriorated that time. =(

It all started Tuesday evening when Chris suddenly threw up. I thought he was just full that the food came out with his burp. But when hubby arrived, he threw up again and from that time on, he was throwing up already like there is no tomorrow. Then he started to poop a loose stool. Hubby told me that he was having a diarrhea.

Morning came, Chris was still ill that I decided to bring him with me to the hospital since I also have a prenatal checkup that day. We went first to his pediatrician to have him checked. His pediatrician told us that he has gastroenteritis which might be viral since it was impossible to be caused by the food that he ate because he was the only one who got it. And since it might be viral, he also told us to expect that Ian will have it too after few days.

The pediatrician injected Plasil to Chris for his vomiting. Then he prescribed Motilium and some sort of antibiotic if he continues to have diarrhea.

I was really worried about Chris that day. He wants to eat and drink but his body won't accept it. After he eats and drinks, he automatically vomits it after few seconds. He was already weak and has not been eating and drinking for the whole day that we decided to have him admitted to the hospital so that he can be given a dextrose.

Chris was admitted to Sta. Rosa Hospital and Medical Center. Of course, his attending physician was hubby so that his progress can be easily monitored by us.

When we arrived there, Chris was really dehydrated. He was either too weak or too brave that he did not struggle when the IV was inserted to him.

The Doctor inserting an IV to Chris

I was in tears while the doctor was inserting an IV to Chris. I can't stand seeing my son suffering like that. I'm wishing that time that I'll just have his illness so that he'll be well already.

Though Chris was really ill that time, he still managed to be a smart kid. Here is a picture when he was trying to smile at the camera...

Here I am with Chris during his second night at the hospital. It was good that he is still a happy toddler despite his illness.

After two days, Ian started to complain that he has ouchie tummy too. I thought that he was just acting that time that he was just seeking our attention. Then suddenly, he started to throw up also. We tried to observe him first that day. Since he was showing the same symptoms like Chris, we decided to have him admitted to the hospital already before he gets dehydrated like what happened to Chris.

Here were the Kulilits with dextrose...

It was hard for me when the boys were both sick. I don't know who to attend first. They both want to be with me and they only want me! "Only Mommy!" for everything - medicine drinking, eating, drinking, peeing and pooping.

Now, they are back to their normal selves already and I'm happy about that! It's okay with me that they are talkative and feisty than seeing them weak. They are also eating a lot now and starting to regain the weight that they lost. =)

I just hope and pray that they will not be hospitalized anymore for it really breaks my heart to see them suffer.

How about you fellow mommies, have you experienced this kind of situation?

My Home for almost a Week: Sta. Rosa Hospital & Medical Center

As I have said in my earlier posts, I got confined to Sta. Rosa Hospital & Medical Center. It is a tertiary hospital located beside Waltermart in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Dito na ako nagpaconfine para mura mura and besides, kailangan kumita ng hospital na ito since we have stocks here.

Super dali ng admission dito. I didn't wait that long. In less than 30 minutes, may room na ako. My hubby got me a big private room. The one with a TV, refrigerator and bathroom. He told me that I need not to worry and said to me Ano ka ba? Hindi ito tulad ng Makati Med no!. And he was right. The cost of the big private room there is just P1,000.00 per day. Ang mura no? When I gave birth to my twins at Makati Med, the small private room costs around P2,800.00 per day that time. Pero ito, big private room P1,000.00 lang. San ka pa? Kaya go!

I didn't regret that I was confined in this hospital. If ever I'll get confined again (crossing my fingers), I'll choose this hospital again. For me, the plus points of this hospital are:
  • Room is presentable - maganda siya promise
  • Room is clean - the room is cleaned twice a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon)
  • Room is spacious
  • Sheets are changed everyday
  • Hospital food is sufficient
  • 2 benches for the guests in a room
  • Friendly hospital personnel
  • Friendly and attentive nurses - they treat you well and sobra kang pampered
  • Accessibility to grocery and restaurants - hindi ka magugutom!
Pero siyempre there are some minus points.
I was forced to diet...hehehe).

For remembrance, I took photos of my room. 6 days din ako dito ha. Hindi biro yun. Nakakabuang. Hehehe...

4th Floor Hallway

Room 422 - My Room

Pwede na no? A more affordable hospital with the same result! =)
