Food Trip: The Original Cafe Juanita in Pasig

We went to Pasig para maningil siya sa bagong client niya and at the same time para kumain sa Café Juanita dahil mukha daw masarap ang Kare Kare nila. Hehe.

As expected, ang Kapitolyo ay maraming tao that time. As in complete carwash ha, kasama makina. Hehe!

Kaya ayun, nakarating kami agad agad sa Café Juanita...

Here is the main door of the resto...

As in halo halo ang decors. Gets niyo? O magulo rin ako? Hehe!

Anyway, I'll show you around the resto. Sa first floor muna tayo:

The grand piano with many anik anik...

First floor dining area...

The stairway with all awards they received...

Estante where you can find the halo halo ingredients...

The Al Fresco area...

Stairway to the second floor dining area...

Second floor dining area...

The restroom...

O di ba, pati restroom nila well-decorated?

Their menu...

Since 3 lang kaming adults (me, my mom and Je Ann), we just ordered the following for our main course...

Kare Kare Juanita. Always served with pride as one of our specialties; ox-tail and tripes stewed in peanuts and toasted rice with tropical vegetables.

P520.00

According to my mom, masarap naman daw ang kare-kare nila pero mas-masarap pa rin raw ang kare-kare ni Nanay Rosa (Nanay Rosa is my mom's aunt. She's always invited to cook her famous kare-kare every time we have an occasion).

Tinuktok. Crabmeat and buco wrapped in taro leaves, cooked in coconut milk and crab fat.

P209.00

This one, medyo bitin. Ang konti kasi eh. Hindi nga namin nalasahan yung crab eh.

Pan grilled fish fillet on kare-kare sauce. Pan grilled white fillet on a bed of blenched vegetables on nutty kare-kare sauce.

P392.00

This kare-kare is for me since I'm not eating red meat anymore. Yung kare-kare nila is manamis namis sa panlasa ko that's why you really need to eat it with bagoong. Sakto lang naman sa panlasa ko. At least, may alternative way to eat kare-kare di ba? Iba naman talaga kasi ang kare-kare na made up of beef and intestines eh. Lam niyo yun, malasang malasa and malinamnam.

For our dessert, I'm suppose to have New York Cheesecake. Unfortunately, out of stock na so I ended up with their Sansrival...

Bitin ako, lalo pa't shinare ko with my twins. Ang gusto ko rin with their Sansrival is they used cashew nuts instead of just peanuts.

While my mom, had saging con yelo for dessert...

No comment naman si madir dito. Siguro masarap kasi naubos naman niya eh. Hehe.

Here are my other comments about my experience at Café Juanita:

Location - Dadayuhin mo talaga kasi it's located in Pasig Kapitolyo. Pero they have other branches na rin. One in The Fort and the other one in Molito, Alabang.

Parking - Limited parking sila so didiskarte ka talaga where to park.

Service - I'm not satisfied with their service. I don't know, baka naman kasi ngarag ang mga waiters nila that time. Ang bagal eh. Nakailang follow-up kami and may mga requests kami na hindi naibigay.

Nothing special actually.

Price - A little bit pricey.

O di kaya, siya yung tipong resto kung saan papakainin mo yung visitor mo from other country just for them to have a unique dining experience.

How about you, have you tried eating at Café Juanita? Care to share your dining experience?
